Highlights

The Site Formation and Infrastructure Works for the Public Housing Development near Tan Kwai Tsuen in Yuen Long primarily include the following:

(a) site formation works and the construction of associated retaining walls and slopes;

(b) construction of a carriageway to connect the proposed public housing development with the existing road network;

(c) development of water supply facilities, including two service reservoirs and a pumping station; and

(d) construction of a sewer system linking to the Ha Tsuen pumping station.

During the visit, participants will first gather at the site office. Upon arrival, an experience-sharing session will be held to discuss the project's works and challenges. This will be followed by a guided tour of the proposed housing site, where ongoing site formation works can be observed.


Safety Requirements

Participants should prepare their own safety gears (including safety shoe, reflective jacket and safety helmet) and hold a valid safety Green Card.


Registration

The number of participants is strictly limited.  Priority will be given to members of the AGS (HK).  The number of attendees will be limited to 20 and the applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

RECAP OF THE DAY

On April 26, 2025, a technical visit to the Site Formation and Infrastructure Works for the Public Housing Development near Tan Kwai Tsuen, Yuen Long is organized by AGS and supported by the Civil Engineering Development Department (CEDD), Binnies Hong Kong Limited and Build King Joint Venture. The project involves site formation works for future housing development, the construction of associated retaining walls and slopes, construction of access road, road improvement works, and development of water supply facilities including reservoirs, a pumping station, and a sewer system.

Throughout the visit, the participants acquired knowledge regarding the ongoing site formation works for public housing development. The hosts presented an overview of the project featuring the rock/soil cutting works, the method of construction for the reinforced earth wall and its current installation progress, and the strategic techniques used in soil stabilization. Additionally, the design and implementation of a temporary drainage arrangement for the reinforced earth wall was also discussed as part of the orientation.

After the presentation, participants had the opportunity to engage in an interactive Q&A session to learn more about the project methodology. This was followed by a guided tour of the site, where participants observed firsthand the ongoing site formation works and the techniques being applied. 

Overall, the technical visit offered participants an invaluable learning experience, showcasing advanced methods in complex construction works such as rock/soil excavation, slope stabilization, and drainage system design. The knowledge gained during this visit will undoubtedly enhance the participants' understanding of site formation works and their implementation in Hong Kong.
