Recap of the Day
On August 31, 2024, AGS organized a technical site visit to the site formation works along Yau Yue Wan Estate Road in Tseung Kwan O, as part of the Hong Kong Housing Authority's (HKHA) housing development. This visit was supported by the Civil Engineering and Development Department, Ove Arup & Partners Hong Kong Limited, and China International Water & Electric Corporation.
The project involves site formation works for a land platform covering approximately 5 hectares. It includes the construction of a new covered walkway, enhancements to pedestrian crossings, and ancillary infrastructure such as drainage, sewerage, water works, and landscaping, all under contract CV/2021/04.
During the visit, participants observed the soil nail installation procedure, which was demonstrated to enhance their understanding. The slope works and site formation addressed varying levels and different stages of construction. Additionally, a section of the existing sewerage tunnel connecting the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology to the site had to be demolished to accommodate the future slope profile, and one of the existing hiking trails was diverted.
Overall, the visit provided a valuable opportunity for participants to gain insights into the public housing development as well as the design and construction of the site formation works.
