About the event
Synopsis
Site Investigation (SI) plays a crucial role in the geotechnical engineering industry by providing essential geological information for constructing a reliable ground model in engineering design. Adequate SI minimizes geological and geotechnical risks. This webinar will introduce the SI strategies commonly employed during different stages of rock cavern study in Hong Kong. The speaker will also share recent experiences in GI planning projects and discuss the considerations as well as constraints involved from the perspective of a designer.
About the Speaker
Mr. Jonathan Yan is an Associate at AECOM with over 13 years of experience in engineering geology and geotechnical engineering across infrastructure projects in Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, and Saudi Arabia. He is a chartered Engineer and a chartered Geologist specializing in site investigation and geotechnical studies.
Jonathan completed his bachelor's degree at The University of Hong Kong and pursued his master's degree at The University of Science and Technology. Throughout his career, he has been actively involved in site formation, natural terrain hazard study, tunneling, cavern, and quarry projects, particularly in drill-and-blast underground excavation. Furthermore, he possesses extensive knowledge in aerial photographic interpretation, ground investigation, 3D geological modeling, geotechnical assessment, and blasting assessment.
