AGS(HK) Technical Visit to Trunk Road T2

Highlights :

The Trunk Road T2 is a dual 2-lane trunk road of approximately 3.4 km length. With the connection to the Central Kowloon Route (CKR) to the west and the main tunnel of the Tseung Kwan O – Lam Tin Tunnel (TKO-LTT) to the east, the Truck Road T2 and the Cha Kwo Ling (CKL) Tunnel form the middle section of Route 6. This strategic transport network can effectively support the new development projects, including the West Kowloon Cultural District and the West Kowloon Station of the Hong Kong Section of the Guangzhou – Shenzhen – Hong Kong Express Rail Link.

During the site visit, the presentation for the project background, tunnel boring machine (TBM) and geotechnical innovations will be provided in Kai Tak Community Liaison Centre and follow with a site visit to the tunnel of Trunk Road T2.

Safety Requirements :

Participants should prepare their own safety gears (including safety shoe, reflective jacket and safety helmet) and hold a valid safety Green Card or HKIE Member Card.

Book prize is open to all young attendants (under 35 years old) for the submission of a good quality report (max. 500 words) on this event. Book Prize reward comprises a book "Geology of Site Investigation Boreholes in Hong Kong" by Chris Fletcher and book coupon HK$500 or equivalent.

Registration :

The number of participants is strictly limited. Priority will be given to members of the AGS(HK). The number of attendees will be limited to 20 and the applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Successful applicants will be informed about 1 week before the event.
