Highlights
The project involves the construction of a cavern complex within the mountain south of Lion Rock, covering a total area of approximately 1.1 hectares and a volume of 156,000 cubic metres. This facility will accommodate the relocated Diamond Hill Fresh Water and Salt Water Service Reservoirs (DHSRs) and their associated infrastructure.
Key components include the construction of the relocated DHSRs and two pumping stations within the caverns, along with the installation of approximately 13 kilometres of fresh and salt water pumping and distribution mains (ranging from 250mm to 800mm in diameter).
As the site is classified as a confined space, personnel entering the tunnel must have completed the Safety Training Course for Certified Workers of Confined Space. All other participants are restricted to the introductory session and a visit to the facilities located outside the tunnel.
