Chairman Message

It is really my great honor to serve all the members of AGS(HK) as the Chairman in the up-coming session 2019 to 2021. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the Immediate Past Chairman, Ir. Dr. SW Lee, for his outstanding leadership and dedication to the Association as well as all the Executive Committee & Co-opt Members for their continuous supports in organizing many great events for our fellow members in the last session, which was indeed a fruitful achievement year.

The Association always cares for the development needs of our fellow members, therefore we will keep exploring more inspiring technical seminars and interesting site visits to support our fellow members on continuing professional development. Our Working Groups so far developed including Tunnel & Cavern, Geoenvironmental, Ground Investigation, AGS Data Format, Natural Terrains and Landslide Hazard, Reclamation, Foundation Works, BIM will continually provide a platform for the industry practitioners to share views, feedback and the mostly importantly to prepare more AGS Guidelines and Notes to promote our industry best practices.

In order to show the great encouragement to our future young engineers, we will keep on providing scholarship and organise the Final Year Projects Competition with prizes for local University undergraduates to recognise their excellence in the research fields of geotechnical/geological/geo-environmental engineering.

Last but not least, I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to all of you for continuous supports to the Association and we look forward to seeing you at our events in the near future.

Ir Clayton Y K Chan
