Ir Clayton Chan obtained his Master Degree of Engineering in 1998. Since then he worked for contractors for 2 years and joined AECOM in 2000. He is now an Executive Director of AECOM with extensive experience in planning, design, construction, site supervision and project management of various large-scale civil infrastructures projects in particular tunneling projects of road, rail, stormwater, sewer and water tunnels, with construction methods ranging from Drill-and-Break, Drill-and-Blast, Road Header, Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM), Pipe Jacking, Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD), Soft Ground tunneling excavation (NATM) to Cut-and-Cover in Hong Kong, Australia, UAE, India, Thailand and Malaysia. He was also involved in the design and construction supervision of shafts, site formation, foundation, deep excavation and ground treatments in various major civil infrastructure projects. He has served as Committee Members in HKIE Geotechnical Working Group on Cavern and Tunnel Engineering and is an Executive Committee Member of AGS(HK) since 2012.

Dr Siew-wei Lee is a Director of Golder Associates Hong Kong Ltd. He obtained PhD from Cambridge University and MBA from HKUST. He is a qualified civil and geotechnical engineer and has more than 15 years of professional experience with geotechnical projects in Hong Kong and Asia Pacific countries. He was the Honorary Secretary of AGS (HK) in 2012-2013.

Haydn Chan is an engineering geologist having 20 years experience and now is a senior geologist in Arup HK. He has extensive experience in project’s investigation stage such as desk study, aerial photograph interpretation, geological and geotechnical information reviewing and analysing in order to establish geological and design models and also characterizing the project sites in geological/ geotechnical aspects. He is also experienced in project management, planning, controlling and supervising ground investigation works, design and supervision of natural terrain hazard mitigation measures, blasting, piling, rock slope works and geotechnical instrumentation.

Lewis is a Registered Geotechnical Engineer (RGE) with over 16 years of professional experience in geotechnics and tunnelling. He has extensive working experience in large-scale infrastructure projects for government, quasi-government (e.g. MTRCL and Airport Authority) and private projects, notably for site formation works, ground improvement works and a wide variety of excavation scheme (e.g. TBM (EPB & Slurry), mechanical/mined excavation (drill-and-blast & drill-and-break), cavern, box jacking, microtunnelling (e.g. pipe-jacking) and cut-and-cover tunnelling) in geotechnically difficult or newly reclaimed land. Lewis has particular interest in implementation of geotechnical risk management as developed from his experiences in taking up the statutory or accountable role of RGE/Cat II for various private and public large-scale multi-disciplinary projects. He is now Associate Director of Atkins China Limited, member of the SNC-Lavalin Group.

Henry Liu is a civil and geotechnical engineer with some 38 years of experience in Hong Kong, Africa ,UK, Singapore and China with a wide facet in the construction industry. He specializes in the management of infrastructure projects, having worked on a number of major developments in different parts of the world including the Channel Tunnel in the UK and The Third Nairobi Water Supply Project in Kenya in the early nineties, Ting Kau Bridge in the mid-nineties, Lok Ma Chau Spur Line in the early twenties as well as the widening of Castle Peak Road and the Singapore MRT Downtown Line 3 in recent years. Henry have had held several senior positions in various organization in his career both as client, consultants and contractors. He is currently involved with the third runway projects for the Hong Kong International Airport adopting Deep Cement Mixing (DCM) as well as other consultancy appointments. Henry used to be active in the HKIE, having been the chairman of the Civil Division(01-02) , chairman of the CDAP(04-07), the Council (98-02) and the Executive (02-03) of the HKIE. He is also an expert witness in the construction industry having been involved in a number of legal cases in Hong Kong. He is also an accredited mediator and an arbitrator. He sits on the CICID in the civil engineering department of the HKU and is also a committee member of the ADR- HKIE.

Eleonora Di Mario is a chartered civil engineer working as a senior member in the geotechnical team of Tony Gee and Partners. She has large scale infrastructure project experience in Europe, Brazil, India and Hong Kong gained over the last 9 years.
After successfully obtaining her professional status in Italy, she moved to Hong Kong where she has been involved in major reclamation and infrastructure projects, developing her expertise on both a technical and managerial level. Working for contractors on alternative design schemes, he has gained an in-depth knowledge of the construction aspects and industry standards of a wide range of geotechnical works.

Steve Power is an Engineering geologist with more than 25 years experience of working in Hong Kong and other countries including Malaysia, South Africa and the UK. He is an Associate Director with Mott MacDonald (Hong Kong). Steve is a Chartered Geologist (CGeol) and a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and his experience covers geological assessments and geotechnical design for a range of tunnels, caverns, slope stability and foundation projects around the world. Steve has a particular interest in promoting excellence and innovation in ground investigation and the efficient and effective interpretation of the results which forms the basis for cost effective and safe geotechnical design. In this regard, Steve heads the AGS-HK working group promoting and improving the AGS data format for the efficient transfer data between ground investigation contractors and other parties in Hong Kong and the use of geotechnical databases for storage and management of ground investigation data.

Ir Raymond Sin is an Associate Director of AECOM in Hong Kong and actively involved in project management, detailed design and site supervision of civil & tunnelling of civil, infrastructure, underground railway stations, highway, tunnel, reclamation, geotechnical and building projects in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and India.
Mr. Sin has good experience in project management comprising cut & cover tunnel design, deep excavation for basement/underground station construction, drill & blast tunnel, drill & break tunnel, TBM tunnel, ground investigation works, slope upgrading works, site formation, reclamation and ground treatment, and has been Cat I Engineer to supervise, rock shaft, tunnelling, excavation and lateral support (ELS), slope and site investigation works.

After graduating from Earth Sciences Department of the University of Hong Kong in 1996, Jeffrey Wong joined the Geotechnical Engineering Office, Civil Engineering and Development Department as an Engineering Geology Graduate and is currently a Senior Geotechnical Engineer. He is a Chartered Geologist with key experience covering geological survey, natural terrain hazard assessments, landslide mapping, slope upgrading works, as well as cavern and underground space development studies.

Walter Tsang is currently a senior geologist with C M Wong & Associates Limited. He graduated from the University of Hong Kong in 1999. He initially worked as an assistant geologist and geologist in Fugro Geotechnical Services Ltd. during which time he was involved in various land and marine ground investigation projects and gained experience in site supervision and specialist field testing works. He then joined C M Wong and Associates Ltd. in 2008. He is currently working on LPMit Stage 3 studies and natural terrain hazard study and mitigation projects.

Martin is a Chartered Engineer with more than 20 years of professional experience, mostly in the foundation/deep excavation design and ground engineering in Hong Kong. He joined Gammon Construction Limited in 1993. He studied at the Polytechnic University of Hong Kong for civil engineering and obtained his Bachelor Degree in 2001 and Master Degree in 2012. He has a 10 years working experience in the application and theory in geotechnical instrumentation and laboratory/field testing for soil and foundation. He is proficient in the design for various foundation systems and deep excavation works with 10 years related practices and experiences.

Bachy Soletanche
Raymond is a Project Manager of Bachy Soletanche Ltd with more than thirty five years of experience in tendering, contractual management and site supervision in projects. He also involves in technical study, proposal and support for tenders and projects particularly in engineering geology. He has worked on a wide varieties of geotechnical projects in Hong Kong, Southeast Asia and China in fields of ground investigation, directional drilling, instrumentation, piled foundation, ground anchoring, slope greening, site formation, ground treatment by soil and rock grouting, vibroflotation and soil stabilization. Currently, he is the Quality and Geotechnical Manager for Bachy Soletanche–Sambo Joint Venture for marine deep mixing works. He is currently the Committee Member of Site Investigation Contractors’ Committee (SICC), and acted as the Vice-Chairman for SICC of Hong Kong Contractors Association (HKCA) from 2015 to 2017. He is an approved Geotechnical Engineer, Site Agent, and Authorized Signatory under the Approved Lists of Development Works Bureau of HKSAR. He is also the Editor and Committee Member of Professional Branch of The Geological Society of Hong Kong. On behalf of the Society, he joined the Working Group of Civil Engineering and Development Department for reviewing and updating the GEO Publication: Geoguide 4- Cavern Engineering.

Dimitri PLANTIER: Regional Manager – South East Asia for Reinforced Earth®. Graduated from the Ecole Centrale Paris in France (one of the top 2 engineering & management university (“Grandes Ecoles”) in France). Mr PLANTIER has been 16 years in the group Soletanche-Freyssinet. He has a very international experience (8 years in Hong Kong, 4 in Romania, 4 in Russia) on different type of projects (Segmental bridge, building, nuclear plant). He participated and organised to various conferences worldwide.

After obtaining a Master of Engineering degree from Cambridge University in 2015, Alex Leung joined Golder Associates Hong Kong Ltd. He has been involved in deep excavation, reclamation and TBM tunneling projects. He is currently also a part-time MPhil student at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. His research study focuses on soft clay behaviour and ground improvement.
